Seattle police are actively investigating a stabbing incident that occurred in the South Lake Union area yesterday evening. According to the SPD Blotter, patrol officers received reports of the stabbing around 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of 7th Avenue and Denny Way. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered a man with multiple stab wounds, who had collapsed in front of a police car.
The officers immediately rendered emergency medical aid until the Seattle Fire Department arrived to continue care. The victim was then transported to Harborview Medical Center and is reported to be in stable condition, despite the life-threatening nature of his injuries. The Seattle Police Department has not yet released details on what precipitated the encounter between the two men involved in the altercation, but the investigation is ongoing.
In the course of the investigation, police discovered a blood trail that led them to a nearby apartment building on the 100 block of Dexter Avenue North. A search of the building's common areas led officers to the 6th floor, where the blood trail ended in a hallway.
In a related incident, a man called into 911 from an area bus requesting medical attention for an attack. Matching the description of the stabbing suspect, officers found the caller on the 6th floor during their search. He was arrested without incident and is a 31-year-old man expected to be booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Assault, according to the SPD Blotter report.
