A 23-year-old man reported waking up inside his submerged pickup truck at a Bradenton boat ramp, local authorities confirmed. According to WFLA, the man went to a BP gas station on Manatee Avenue early yesterday morning and described the incident.

Bradenton police later found the truck on its side among the mangroves at the SR-64 boat ramp. WTSP reported that the vehicle showed damage to the boat ramp and appeared to have veered off eastbound Manatee Avenue before rolling down an embankment. The truck belonged to the man, who could not recall how the incident occurred, prompting an investigation.

No other passengers were inside the truck. The man was taken to a hospital, and the extent of his injuries has not been disclosed. The boat ramp parking area was temporarily closed but reopened around 7:45 a.m. Tampa Bay 28 noted that tire tracks helped police trace the truck’s path through the mangroves.
