An ongoing manhunt is underway in Anson County for a suspect who is considered "armed and dangerous" after reportedly shooting at officers post a car chase. As per the Anson County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began late Sunday night when Rockingham Police used the Flock system to identify a vehicle containing a wanted individual, as reported by QC News.
The chase, initiated by Rockingham Police, led into Anson County where deputies deployed stop sticks on Hwy 74 near Harrington Road to immobilize the said vehicle. In a dramatic turn of events, after using a stop stick to disable the vehicle, the driver identified as Hills, exited his car and fled on foot into a nearby wooded area, according to a WSOC-TV report. During the escape, Hills discharged a firearm at the officers and has not been located since.
The Anson County Sheriff's Office has advised the public to be on alert and has announced a reward for information that could lead to Hill's arrest. Still at large, Hills was last seen in a wooded area near Harrington Road, where he managed to elude the authorities after firing shots at them. "Anyone who sees Hills should call the Anson County Sheriff’s Office or 911," the deputies were quoted as saying in an article by WBTV.
As the search continues, local residents are advised to exercise caution. Information about Hills' whereabouts should be reported immediately, with the Sheriff's Office offering a reward to incentivize such crucial assistance from the public.
