The search for the third suspect in a Northwest homicide case has intensified as the Metropolitan Police Department releases additional images. The June 30 incident, which tragically cut short the life of a young congressional intern, Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, has already led to the arrest of two suspects. Now, the MPD is seeking the public's help in locating 18-year-old Naqwan Antonio Lucas, believed to be the final individual involved in the fatal shooting.
On the night of the shooting, police were called to the 1200 block of 7th Street, Northwest, after reports of gunfire. They found three victims, two conscious and one unconscious, later identified as Tarpinian-Jachym of Granby, Massachusetts. Despite the best efforts by medical personnel, the 21-year-old succumbed to his injuries the following day. The two other victims sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds.
The initial arrests in the case came over two months later, on September 5. Kelvin Thomas and Jailen Lucas, both 17 at the time, were taken into custody and charged as adults with First Degree Murder while Armed (Premeditated). However, the hunt for Naqwan Lucas continues, with the MPD releasing further images to guide members of the public who might have information that can aid in his apprehension.
According to a statement by the Metropolitan Police Department, "Anyone who has knowledge of the whereabouts of Naqwan Lucas should take no action but call police." The Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411 is also available for anonymous tip submissions. To encourage public assistance, rewards totaling up to $50,000 have been announced - $25,000 from MPD itself, with an additional $25,000 combined from the FBI’s Washington Field Office and the United States Marshals Service.
