A deadly shooting at Alas Locas bar in Liberty County has escalated into a manhunt, as the suspected gunman remains at large after one individual was killed and five others injured, according to reports by Click2Houston and ABC News. The incident occurred outside the suburban Houston bar at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, with law enforcement now reviewing security footage to identify the assailant who evidently engaged with patrons minimally before the tragedy.
Liberty County officials are asking for the public’s help to find the shooter involved in a recent incident outside the Alas Locas bar. The suspect was last seen sitting alone inside the bar, having a beer about 30 minutes before the shooting. Witnesses say he kept to himself and didn’t talk to anyone. Two people were critically injured and flown to Houston hospitals, while three others had non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance. Investigators on the scene, including Rangers from the Texas Department of Public Safety, gathered over 20 shell casings which hinted at the brutality of the event; Capt. David Myers of the Liberty County Sheriff's Office described the suspect's firearm as possibly being a .40 or .45-caliber handgun, as reported by an interview with KTRK, as per ABC News.
Capt. Myers said the suspect arrived between midnight and 2 a.m. and kept to himself before stepping outside, then returning to the outdoor patio where he began shooting at people. He left the scene in a white full-size van with no side windows, according to witnesses. One man, who was there with his wife, was flown to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and was pronounced dead on arrival. This is the second bar shooting in the Houston area this year. The first happened in March at Latinas Sports Bar, where a Venezuelan national was arrested, as detailed by ABC News.
