In the early hours of Monday, a lost canine found wandering the streets of Mankato, Minnesota, captured the attention of the local government. A black female border collie/lab mix, sporting a Smurfs collar but without any tags or microchip, was found and taken to the City of Mankato Impound within Sibley Park. Concerned for the dog's welfare and looking to reunite her with her owner, the City of Mankato turned to social media for help, posting the details of the situation on their official Facebook page.
The post, which was shared by the City of Mankato, detailed where the dog was found and where she could be claimed. It asked the public to contact Public Safety at 911 if they recognized the dog or had information that could assist in reuniting her with her owner. The outpouring of community concern has since been palpable, with the post being circulated widely in hopes someone would recognize the friendly-faced pooch.
The facility housing the dog is located at 903 Mound Avenue, and contact with Public Safety can be initiated through the same means one would report any emergency - by calling 911. As of yet, there have been no updates on whether the owner has been located or if the dog remains at the impound.
