As students pick up their pencils and open their lockers, the Maple Grove Police Department's School Resource Officers are rolling out a welcome mat of their own. In a recent social media update directed at parents and guardians, a post on the department's Facebook page has announced the SROs' eagerness to greet the new and returning faces of the 2025–2026 school year, ensuring both safety and support are paramount as classes commence.
Maple Grove High School, Maple Grove Middle School, Osseo High School, and Osseo Middle School, each one havens of learning where SROs pledge more than mere surveillance, instead promising a commitment to trustworthy interactions and a nurturing environment for every young mind in the corridors. "Our SROs are more than just a uniform in the hallway — we’re here to build trust, promote safety, and support your student’s success both in and out of the classroom," the police department expressed in a statement, emphasizing the multifaceted role these officers play beyond their traditional security duties.
The need for open lines of communication between school authorities, SROs, and families is clear and streamlined, with the department advising anyone seeking to reach an SRO to begin by contacting the respective school's front office. This straightforward pathway is designed to facilitate quick contact when necessary, reflecting the SROs’ accessible and supportive presence within the school community.
