
The Maryland State Police have launched an investigation into the death of an inmate at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Allegany County, officials announced.
According to a press release from the Maryland State Police, the deceased inmate is identified as Patrick Canderloro, age 38. Emergency medical service personnel declared him deceased last Saturday. The initial report suggests that Canderloro was discovered unresponsive, on the ground in his cell, on Saturday night by correctional officers.
The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was notified about the death by the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigative Unit. Subsequently, crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division were dispatched to handle evidence collection and analysis at the facility.
The circumstances surrounding Canderloro's death are still under scrutiny, with the investigation remaining active and ongoing. Once completed, the findings will be delivered to the State's Attorney's Office in Allegany County for review.
