
A fatal car crash in Medina County claimed the life of a local woman early this morning. According to FOX8, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, which occurred just before 9 a.m. on State Route 3, near Pierce Road. The victim was identified as Nicole Johnson, 52, of Medina.
Officials say Johnson's vehicle, a 2015 GMC Yukon XL, went off the roadway's right side and subsequently struck a ditch before overturning. A detail from WKYC notes that Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash.
Following the accident, Johnson was transported to the Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital. Despite prompt medical attention, she did not survive the injuries sustained from the crash. Cleveland19 reported that Johnson was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Medina Fire Department, Medina Police Department, and the Medina Township Police Department, alongside the Medina Life Support Team and Heidi’s Towing. As of now, the Highway Patrol's investigation into the fatal incident continues, with no further details about potential causes for the accident disclosed.
