Local residents in Wake Forest have the opportunity to become acquainted with their prospective mayoral and Board of Commissioners (BOC) candidates at the upcoming forum on Wednesday, from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, according to an announcement on the Town of Wake Forest's official website. Mayor hopefuls Vivian Jones and Ben Clapsaddle, along with BOC candidates Thomas Dement, Haseeb Fatmi, Pam James, Keith Shackleford, Nick Sliwinski, and Jasmine Zavala, are set to engage the public, field questions and outline their visions for the future.
The structured sequence of the evening's agenda, as reported by the Wake Forest's website, will first showcase the mayoral candidates then transition to those running for the BOC, all this follows by an informal “meet and greet”, this offering a chance for community interaction. Admission to the forum is free, and seating operates on a first-come basis, ensuring accessibility for all interested attendees.
This voter education event will not stream live; however, for those unable to attend, a recorded version will be available for viewing starting next Monday, on the town's website and showing on Wake Forest TV 10 (WFTV 10) for Spectrum Cable subscribers, detailed in the same announcement. WFTV 10 will broadcast the forum daily at noon and 6 p.m. right up till Election Day, offering numerous opportunities for residents to stay informed of their choices in the upcoming civic elections.
With Election Day looming on November 4 and no early voting option this round, Wake Forest voters are urged by officials to ensure they partake in shaping their community's leadership; the polls will open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. as mentioned on the Wake Forest's website. The Renaissance Centre, nestled at 405 S. Brooks St., thus becomes a fulcrum for democracy, where its doors open not merely to debates and handshakes, but to the foundational act of civic engagement in Wake Forest's own small, but significant theatre of American democracy.
