The National Weather Service in Memphis has provided an outlook for the upcoming week's weather, giving residents a sense of what to expect from the skies above. According to NWS Memphis, today is set to remain mostly sunny with temperatures reaching a comfortable high near 96 degrees. Temperatures tonight are expected to dip to around 73, under partly cloudy skies with only a slight 20 percent chance of showers occurring between 1 am and 2 am. A calm south wind will continue throughout the evening, rounding out a relatively tranquil night in Memphis.

Looking at the week ahead, Monday will introduce a similar slight chance of showers, with the possibility of thunderstorms cropping up post-1 p.m. With the sun peaking through, high temperatures are again predicted to be near 95 degrees. North-northwest winds are expected to blow gently at around 5 mph in the afternoon. Residents should gear up to enjoy another sunny day on Tuesday, with the thermometer anticipated to climb near 94 degrees and winds continuing to move in softly, helping to slightly curb the warmth radiating down.

The middle of the week promises uninterrupted sunshine on Wednesday, with highs persisting in the high 90s and winds meandering from calm to a light west southwest breeze by the afternoon. At night, on Wednesday, we will see partly cloudy skies, with lows hovering at around 70 degrees. A south wind is projected to present at about 5 mph before waning later in the evening. As is typical for mid-September in Memphis, these conditions reflect a transitional period where summer's heat gradually gives way and cooler evenings begin to set in.

As we look toward the end of the week, Thursday's weather is marked by a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 pm, though conditions will largely remain mostly sunny with highs still in the low 90s. Those heading out at night should anticipate a moderate chance of precipitation, with partly cloudy conditions and temperatures descending to about 69. The week wraps up with an uptick in potential rainfall, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday, yet still offering mostly sunny skies and a high nearing 88.
