A Mercer County man has been accused of engaging in a violent altercation at a Butler County wedding, resulting in the assault of several attendees, including the bride. John Cianci, originally from Sharpsville, faces multiple charges following the incident that occurred at The Woods at Eisler Farms last Friday, according to WTAE.
After being denied further alcoholic beverages, Cianci reportedly became "extremely angry and violent," which eventually led him to strike the bride with a "round house" style punch. The attack knocked the bride to the ground and incited a physical struggle involving three other people who attempted to quickly subdue the assailant, but instead were attacked. The criminal complaint, as reported by CBS News Pittsburgh, notes that Cianci was "extremely irate" throughout the altercation.
The charged offenses against Cianci include four counts of simple assault, four counts of disorderly conduct, four counts of harassment, and one count of public drunkenness. Police records show that his actions not only caused injuries but also led to public inconvenience, annoyance, and alarm among those in attendance at the traditional gathering.
Cianci's initial court appearance is pending, and he has been released on $5,000 bail.
