Mercer County is the setting for a recently initiated investigation, following the death of a local man due to a gunshot wound, as per reports from law enforcement officials. WTAE has disclosed that Brandon D. Smith, aged 45, was taken to UPMC Horizon Shenango’s Emergency Department, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim was later identified by the Mercer County Coroner's Office which announced that Smith, hailing from West Middlesex had been pronounced dead at 2:24 a.m., the shooting incident which is believed to have happened just before 1:30 a.m. at an establishment known as Yank's Place located on Idaho Street, specifics about what transpired during the incident are currently under wraps as both local and state police including the Farrell Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police delve into the circumstances surrounding the case, as WPXI detailed.
There are still few details about the incident, but Mercer County officials, including the coroner, are carefully performing an autopsy to learn more.
