Mesa's Assistant Police Chief Ed Wessing is the subject of an internal investigation over allegations suggesting he failed to adhere to the city’s management policies, personnel rules, or official communications. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, Wessing, who has been a part of the Mesa Police Department for 27 years and previously oversaw the Community Services Bureau, has been reassigned during the course of this investigation, details of which remain sparse at the moment.

The Department has indicated that Wessing is now on home duty while the city probes into his conduct. ABC 15 reported that the city of Mesa has not released further information regarding the nature of the allegations, nor has it speculated on how long this process might take.

"The City of Mesa and the Mesa Police Department take all allegations of misconduct seriously and a thorough investigation is being conducted," the department stated in response to the inquiry. However, the City of Mesa maintains a non-disclosure stance on personnel matters currently under investigation, but underscores its commitment to a safe and respectful work environment. "As an organization committed to ensuring a safe and respectful workplace, we take all complaints seriously and will follow established procedures to ensure due process," read a statement provided to FOX 10 Phoenix.
