
The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in tracking down a burglary suspect connected to a recent break-in in Southwest. The incident, which took place early yesterday morning, has left the neighborhood on alert.
According to the official release, the suspect managed to gain unauthorized access to a residence located on the 1500 block of 1st Street, Southwest, at approximately 7:04 a.m., yesterday, September 11. The thief made off with the victim's belongings, only to be later captured by a surveillance camera in the act.
Authorities have since released photos taken from the footage in an appeal for anyone with information to come forward. The images show the suspect during the time of the burglary, hoping that this leads to an identification. Police stress that individuals should not approach the suspect but rather contact them with any pertinent details.
Residents of the District of Columbia are being reminded that there is a standing reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in such cases.
