This Saturday, the Milwaukee community will gather to celebrate the much-anticipated grand opening of the new Martin Luther King Jr. Branch Library. The library, which has been eagerly awaited, is set to fling open its doors in an event filled with music, entertainment, and local flavor, according to the City of Milwaukee.
Located at 2901 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, the festivities will kick off with a brief program starting at 11:30 a.m. Following the program, the event will open to the public at noon and run until 4 p.m. Visitors can expect live music, building tours, makerspace activities, crafts and, to satiate the appetite, food offerings from Confectionately Yours Cafe & Bakery and Bronzeville Kitchen & Lounge. It's a celebration tailored not just for book lovers, but for the entire family, as detailed by the City of Milwaukee.
According to the City of Milwaukee official press release, 6th District Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs couldn't hide her enthusiasm for the library's debut. "The new King Branch of Milwaukee Public Libraries has been a long time in the making, and we have arrived at a spot where this library will serve as a community hub that offers a wide variety of resources to the community," she said. "I want to thank everyone who helped us get to this point, and invite the community to the grand opening celebration on Saturday."
