The Milwaukee Police Department recently concluded Operation Summer Guardian 2025, a nearly four-month-long strategic initiative that aimed to reinforce safety and security within the Milwaukee community. Details of the operation, shared via a Facebook post from the Milwaukee Police Department, revealed a series of deployments and community interactions carried out by various units within the department.
Between May 15 and September 4, police carried out a safety operation involving several law enforcement teams. They completed 64 deployments and 442 "park and walks," where officers patrol on foot in parks and neighborhoods to increase visibility. The operation resulted in 31 arrests for various crimes, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.
A significant aspect of the operation was its focus on recovering illegal firearms and narcotics. According to the Milwaukee Police Department, 12 firearms were seized during the initiative. These included a machine gun with a conversion device, commonly referred to as a "switch," making it capable of automatic fire, and a shotgun. On the drug front, the police confiscated substantial amounts of various drugs: "517.2. grams of THC, 122.1 grams of Methamphetamine, 138.5 grams of Cocaine, 39.8 grams of Fentanyl," as detailed in their post. As part of the operation, police also made 6 traffic stops over the four months. They recovered 4 vehicles that were suspected to be stolen or used in robberies.
