According to a recent announcement from Alderman Scott Spiker, the neighborhood is lined up to deliver an array of attractions starting Friday evening with a free outdoor movie screening. As noted in the official document from the city's website, the family-friendly flick “The Wild Robot” will take center stage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, with moviegoers encouraged to settle in with snacks, chairs, and blankets under the open sky.
The weekend continues with the annual Garden District fall rummage sale, promising a diverse range of vendors and merchandise. Starting at an eager 9 a.m. on Saturday, and poised to pack it up by 3 p.m., this open-air market is a treasure trove with goods ranging from the quaint to the quirky. The rummage sale will unfold at 6 th and Norwich, a leisurely block's stroll south of Howard Ave. In describing the community offerings, Alderman Spiker, neighboring residents invited everyone, said, "The 13th District is home to a wide array of offerings for people of all ages and interests, including events like the family movie night and rummage sale happening this weekend." He hopes that these will serve as a perfect opportunity for residents to mingle and bask in the neighborhood's autumnal offerings.
