MK Cannelle, a French pastry shop, opened yesterday at 156 N. Center St. in Northville, becoming the brand’s sixth location in the metro Detroit area. Founded by Matti Knio, the shop offers French pastries such as cakes, tarts, croissants, and baguettes, along with coffee, sandwiches, and salads, as reported by ClickOnDetroit.
Founder Matti Knio’s background includes early experience in baking at an unnamed bakery, followed by work in the Ivory Coast and formal training at the Academie de Versailles in France, where he earned the title of Master Artisan. He later moved to the United States, serving as head pastry chef at Michigan’s Ritz Carlton before starting his own business, as detailed by Detroit Free Press.
One notable feature of MK Cannelle is its selection of made-from-scratch pastries, which offers a wide variety of choices. The menu’s variety reflects founder Matti Knio’s approach, where both the quality of ingredients and their preparation play a central role in shaping the customer experience.
MK Cannelle has established locations in Ann Arbor, Birmingham, Detroit, Farmington, and Keego Harbor, with a Rochester site planned to open. The Northville location has seen steady customer interest, with community members incorporating the shop into their local routines.
