The Michigan Department of Transportation will close a section of North Telegraph Road in Monroe, Michigan, from September 29 through October 20 to replace a culvert over the Mason Run drain. The closure will affect traffic on U.S. 24 between Holiday Boulevard and Greenfield Avenue, as per CBS News Detroit.
A block of US-24 will be closed, with traffic rerouted via Stewart Road, M-125/North Monroe Street, and Front Street back to Telegraph Road. Huber Drive will also be closed to through traffic. City officials said, "We know this closure is a big inconvenience, but it's necessary to replace the aging culvert under US-24 at Mason Run Drain and relocate key utilities. While a full closure is frustrating, it allows MDOT to finish in about three weeks instead of stretching into months of delays," as reported by CBS News Detroit.
According to the City of Monroe on their Facebook page, upcoming roadwork will affect traffic. Officials said, "Please plan ahead and consider alternate routes, as significant traffic impacts are anticipated." The public safety department is coordinating with nearby first responder agencies to keep emergency routes clear. Residents can contact the City of Monroe Engineering Department at 734-384-9126 for updates and information on detours.
