
Montgomery County Department of Police are actively seeking any leads to apprehend the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run case in Wheaton. The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Ganga Prajapati of New Carrollton, who lost her life after being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. According to official reports, the collision occurred around 7:27 p.m. on Veirs Mill Road at Ennalls Avenue, following which the driver fled from the scene without halting to provide aid or information.
The Montgomery County police, alongside Fire Rescue personnel, were quick to quickly respond to the incident, finding Prajapati critically injured. After being rushed to a nearby hospital, she later succumbed to her injuries. Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) disclosed the suspect vehicle to be a silver 2009 to 2012 Audi A4 or S4, likely to bear significant damage from the impact, including to the windshield and the right front fog light assembly. They suspect additional disrepair such as a dangling left front headlight and a missing passenger side fog light assembly.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the CRU is reaching out to community members for any information regarding the involved vehicle or the driver. "Anyone with information about this collision or the involved Audi is urged to call CRU at (240) 773-6620," the police statement noted. While the search intensifies for the culprit, the police are determined to not let the case go cold, relying on public assistance to bring closure to the victim's family and to hold accountable those who flee from their moral and legal responsibilities
