Emergency services were alerted to the scene around 8:48 a.m. last Friday, where they discovered the victim, later identified as 61-year-old Rosa Cabezas of Southeast, D.C., in a dire condition. Although transported to a local hospital, Cabezas succumbed to her injuries, marking a sorrowful end to the rescue attempts. The Metropolitan Police Department’s preliminary investigation suggests that the pedestrian was crossing 13th Street, when, she was struck by a Toyota Rav4 making a turn onto the street from Harvard Street. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene following the incident.
