The Metropolitan Police Department is currently probing a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian on Eastern Avenue in Northeast D.C. The collision, which took place last Saturday, has claimed the life of 40-year-old Angela Boston of Northeast, D.C., as reported by the MPD.
According to the official release from the MPD, around 9:58 p.m., Sixth District officers were called to the 1100 block of Eastern Avenue, Northeast, responding to a crash involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered the victim, who was conscious and breathing at the time, with injuries that matched being struck by a vehicle. Despite the intensive efforts of DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, who quickly transported her to a nearby hospital, Boston's injuries were too severe and she was later pronounced dead.
The preliminary findings indicate that Boston was standing in the southeast-bound lane when an unknown black SUV, described as having tinted windows, struck her and then fled. Investigators from MPD's Major Crash Investigations Unit have since been called to take the lead on the case.
