Early Tuesday morning, a police pursuit ended in a standoff when a woman, reportedly naked, refused to exit her vehicle after stopping abruptly on Sepulveda Boulevard near Montana Avenue in Westwood. The incident began with a disturbance call reporting a screaming woman in the Bel-Air neighborhood, as stated by KTLA.
The chase, which started around 7 a.m., led to major traffic disruptions on Sepulveda Boulevard. Police established a perimeter, causing the street's closure, and subsequently, the area experienced considerable congestion. Motorists were urged to seek other routes. During the standoff, the woman, seated in a Ford Bronco, was seen with a small dog and, at one point, threw a hammer out of the vehicle, as reported by KTLA.
Authorities waited for mental health professionals to arrive, highlighting the potential mental health aspect of the incident. For those in need of support, the LA County Department of Mental Health recommends contacting their 24/7 helpline or, in crises, calling or texting 988, as per FOX LA's coverage.
