Yesterday, a residence on Fossa Avenue in Nashua, New Hampshire, became engulfed in flames, leading to displacement of its multiple inhabitants. According to NBC Boston, the Nashua fire officials responded to the fiery scene after the midnight alarm went off. Despite the severity of the fire, which caused significant damage to the building and rendered it uninhabitable, no injuries were reported as all occupants, including their pets, were evacuated safely.
Notified of a fire at approximately 12:12 am, the Nashua Fire Rescue arrived on-site to discover the back end of the 2 1/2-story building ablaze. "Engine 2 reported heavy fire showing from the rear of a 2-1/2 story multiple occupancy. Fire location was in the rear porch area, extending into the roof," detailed a social media update from the Nashua Fire Marshal's Office. The crew's swift action involved stretching three hose lines to douse the flames, and conducting a search of the building to ensure all occupants were out.
The incident mobilized a sizable response from the Nashua Fire Rescue, with five engines, two ladder trucks, and additional apparatus, bringing together 34 fire response personnel to the scene. Advanced Life Support (ALS) units from AMR were also in attendance, although, fortunately, their services were not needed on this occasion for anything more than precautionary measures. In light of the functional smoke detectors that aided in the safe evacuation, Nashua Fire Rescue emphasized the importance of early evacuation, stating, "When smoke detectors sound, evacuate the building. Exiting the building as soon as possible will provide you with the best opportunity for survival."
