The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure and the Tennessee Performing Arts Center are extending their rideshare zone pilot program through December 28. This second phase continues efforts that began earlier this year to manage traffic during showtimes, according to the Metro Nashville.
Back in January and February, Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure set up designated zones in metered parking spaces for rideshares and taxis. Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure said the change created an "enhanced and safer rideshare experience" and helped reduce congestion during Tennessee Performing Arts Center events. The zones are now being shifted slightly to test their efficiency and usage, as reported by the Metro Nashville.
NDOT Code Enforcement will oversee clearly marked pickup and drop-off zones around Tennessee Performing Arts Center events to ensure safe passenger loading and reduce traffic congestion. The initiative is part of the Connect Downtown Action Plan, approved by Metro Council last year, which aims to ease congestion in Nashville’s downtown by promoting curbside loading and testing strategies that could later expand to other downtown areas, as stated by the Metro Nashville.
