Early Monday, admittedly with the best of intentions, the DMV conveyed their status as "100%" ready to tackle all driver’s license and ID transactions. However, later updates clarified the ongoing issues. "At this time, we are not processing any first-time Real IDs. We are accepting: renewals for ID/DL/instruction permits, and duplicates for DL/IDs," a post indicated, as noted by 8NewsNow.
Those in need of renewals or duplicates are in luck, as these transactions remain available, with the department guiding customers to use their MyDMV online service for expedited service. This partial functionality provides a workaround for some, while leaving others still frustrated by the system's shortcomings.
Furthermore, the DMV is honoring walk-ins through September 19 for those whose appointments were cancelled between August 25 and September 5, in the wake of the cyberattack. Yet, this accommodation only partly relieves the backlog, specifically excluding new IDs or licenses.
