Motorists in Claridon Township can expect a change in their daily commute. According to a post on the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, a new 4-way stop is set to be implemented at the intersection of SR 608 (Old State Rd.) and Chardon-Windsor Rd. This measure by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is aimed at improving safety at this junction.
Beginning its operation today, September 9, ODOT will have installed Stop Signs, All-Way Stop plaques, and freshly painted stop bars on SR 608. Notifying motorists traveling SR 608, message boards will announce the new traffic pattern this week. With the signs stating "Be Prepared to Stop" and "New Stop" placed near the intersection, drivers should be ready for these changes, according to the Geauga County Sheriff's Office, in a social media post.
ODOT emphasizes the importance of adhering to the new signs and road markings. In a reminder issued to the public, they advise drivers to "come to a complete stop at all stop signs, and use caution when proceeding through the intersection." According to the Geauga County Sheriff's Office, the introduction of the 4-way stop is part of an ongoing effort to enhance road safety and manage traffic flow more effectively.
