New Braunfels Police seized approximately $1 million worth of cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 35 near the 700 block of I-35 North, authorities reported last Friday.

According to KSAT, the stop occurred around 2:15 p.m. when a black GMC pickup truck was intercepted near Canyon High School. A K-9 unit from the Seguin Police Department assisted in locating a hidden compartment in the vehicle’s floor containing 44 pounds of cocaine.

The driver, 21-year-old Maria Elena Rojas, and 47-year-old Gustavo Licea-Feregrino, both from Del Rio, were taken into custody and transferred to Homeland Security Investigations to face federal drug possession charges, as reported by FOX San Antonio.
