
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services will host an online event for Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday next week from noon to 1:30 p.m. The webinar will focus on culture, identity, and mental health in Hispanic and Latino communities, including discussions on stigma, community strengths, and available mental health resources.
As per the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services release, speakers include Kelly Crosbie, Director of NCDHHS Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use Services, and Pamela Rodriguez, Community Outreach Hispanic and Latinx Lead at NCDHHS DMH/DD/SUS. Additional presenters are Rachel Galanter from El Futuro, Elizabeth Uzcategui with Coastal Horizon-Clinica Latina, David Villanueva from Camino, and Jessica Aguilar at SCFAC.
The session will review current mental health resources in North Carolina with an emphasis on the Hispanic and Latino communities. Registration is required to attend, and credentialed media can join through the webinar link. The event is designed to provide information and resources for both individuals and health care providers.
