Governor Josh Stein hosted Australia’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Kevin Rudd AC, at the Executive Mansion in North Carolina, highlighting economic and diplomatic ties between the state and Australia. Stein welcomed the ambassador and noted North Carolina’s ongoing relationship with Australia, according to a release from the Governor’s office.

North Carolina was recently named the Top State for Business by CNBC. Since taking office in January, Governor Stein has announced over $19 billion in new investments and the creation of approximately 25,000 jobs. He has also met with international business leaders, including at the Paris Air Show in June, and recognized seven local businesses for export achievements in March. North Carolina companies exported goods and services worth over $42.8 billion to 215 countries and territories last year, including Australia.

Ambassador Rudd praised North Carolina’s industries, including agriculture, mining, pharmaceuticals, and the Research Triangle’s collaboration with Australian research institutions. Over the past decade, seven Australian companies have established operations in North Carolina, creating more than 840 jobs and investing over $237 million.

Governor Stein said he looks forward to continuing North Carolina’s economic partnership with Australia.
