As autumn grips the North Texas air and leaves begin their tumble to the ground, the city of Mansfield is gearing up to host its annual "Haunt the Block" event. Scheduled for the evening of Oct. 16, this community gathering promises to be the largest yet, according to a post on the Mansfield Municipal Government's Facebook page. Festivities, held in the historic area of Downtown Mansfield, are set to light up the block from 5 to 8 p.m. with an array of activities suited for all ages.

Attendees can look forward to trick-or-treating across dozens of stations, where children and their families can stock up on sweets and celebrate in safe merriment. Visit Mansfield, locals know a hub for community engagement, is pitching in with a DJ as well as games and prizes on Smith Street.

Adding to the excitement, the Mansfield Parks & Recreation Department will take visitors down a "Trail-o-Ween," an outdoor experience that's sure to blend autumnal charm with just the right touch of spookiness. To satisfy the appetite that builds from traversing treat stations and trails, an array of downtown eateries and food trucks will be lined up to serve up the good eats.
