Last Monday night's Third Street shooting has left the Novato community unsettled as Novato Police Department (NPD) officials continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the violent confrontation that resulted in one individual being grazed by gunfire, according to a social media post by the NPD. Around 9:15 PM, dispatchers received calls about the incident near Grant Avenue, where three men faced an armed robbery by two masked assailants dressed in black, one of the suspects notably carrying a red cross-body bag.
The police report indicates that the suspects brandished knives and a firearm, demanding money and inquiring about the victims' possible gang affiliations. As the victims attempted to evade the dangerous encounter, gunfire rang out, striking one man in the head. Fortunately, the victim's injury was deemed non-life-threatening after treatment at a local hospital, and the other two individuals emerged physically unharmed, the NPD stated.
Novato detectives and crime scene investigators promptly arrived at the location to collect evidence as part of the ongoing investigation, as the department is now calling on community assistance for any relevant surveillance footage from the vicinity of Grant Avenue and Third Street. The police are urging anyone with information that could aid their investigation to reach out by phone at 415-897-4361 or via email at [email protected], referencing Case 25-2185.
