
An NYPD officer was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Brooklyn last night. The officer, who has not been identified, was performing traffic duties at the intersection of Church Avenue and Schenectady Avenue in East Flatbush when the incident occurred.
According to ABC7NY, the collision happened around 8:30 p.m., when an individual driving a black sedan hit the officer from behind. Following the impact, the driver did not stop and instead fled the scene. Efforts to locate the motorist are currently underway.
The injured officer was promptly taken to Kings County Hospital. As reported by the New York Post, authorities have stated that the officer is in stable condition and is projected to recover from the injuries sustained in the harrowing event.
While the search for the driver continues, details about the vehicle have been shared with the public. It is described as a black sedan sporting an orange license plate. Anyone who may have information regarding the hit-and-run are encouraged to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
