Oklahoma City drivers should prepare for delays as major roadwork brings closures and lane reductions. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says several ramps and lanes on I-40 and I-35 will be closed overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. This includes the northbound I-35 on-ramp to eastbound I-40 and the I-40 off-ramp to Eastern Ave./Martin Luther King Ave.

Drivers in Oklahoma should expect major traffic changes as highway projects continue. ODOT says I-40 will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between I-240 and Town Center Dr. in Midwest City, and SH-9W near Goldsby will be narrowed to one lane each way at I-35. Some of these projects are expected to last until 2025 or 2026.

Construction in Oklahoma is also affecting I-44, I-240, and SH-152. ODOT says SH-152 and parts of I-44 between S.W. 44th St. and I-240 are narrowed for a widening project. Drivers on US-77 should also expect lane closures at night for resurfacing work.

In Norman, SH-9E near US-77 will be narrowed to one lane until fall 2025 for bridge replacement. Drivers should also expect detours as SH-37/S.W. 134th St. over I-44 is closed for bridge repairs through August. Local streets will see impacts too, so travelers should plan ahead.

Ongoing construction is changing roads in Oklahoma City, affecting access and traffic. These projects aim to improve the city’s streets, and drivers should stay updated and plan for detours as work continues into fall.
