Oklahoma City drivers will see lane reductions and closures on major highways due to ongoing construction. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says the changes affect I-35, I-40, and several state highways, with some restrictions lasting into 2025 and 2026.
I-35 traffic will narrow to one lane near S.W. 34th St. and between SH-9W and SH-74/Main St. in Goldsby due to surface work and reconstruction of the SH-9W interchange into a Diverging Diamond, with disruptions lasting until 2026. On I-40, lane reductions are in place between Meridian Ave. and May Ave., including over I-44 for bridge and pavement repairs, while in Midwest City both directions are reduced to two lanes with no shoulders or merge areas, requiring extra caution, according to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
Drivers on I-44 should expect narrowed lanes near SH-152/Airport Rd. and ramp closures from N.W. 10th St. through the fall. SH-37/S.W. 134th St. over I-44 is closed for bridge repairs, while SH-37/S.E. 4th St. at Broadway Ave. in Moore will remain shut down until summer 2026 for a railroad bridge project. On US-270 near Calumet, single-lane traffic is expected through summer 2025. Oklahoma Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan extra travel time, follow traffic controls, and check official updates for detours and advisories.
