Keith Terrell Thompson, a 27-year-old man from Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to a stiff nine-year term in federal prison. Public records reveal that Thompson was involved in a firearms trafficking conspiracy, including the illegal possession of a machinegun, alongside possession and intent to distribute both methamphetamine and cocaine.

The initial discovery of Thompson's illicit activities came to light on January 17, 2024, when officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD) executed a search warrant at his residence. After a thorough search, the officers unearthed multiple firearms, various controlled substances including cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, as well as a machinegun conversion device (MCD), all prohibited under federal law. Following OCPD’s exhaustive efforts, Thompson was apprehended on January 29, 2024, at another apartment, where additional stolen firearms, drugs, and cash over $10,000 were seized, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Charges were formally brought against Thompson on March 11, to which he pled guilty on March 20, admitting to all counts of his indictment. This plea acknowledged his involvement in trafficking firearms and his clear intent to distribute the narcotics found in his possession. Additionally, his plea confirmed the possession of a firearm that furthered his drug trafficking activities and his illegal ownership of an MCD.

Last Thursday, Chief U.S. District Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti delivered Thompson's sentence, mandating him to serve 108 months followed by a supervised release for three years. The successful prosecution is attributed to the collaborative investigation spearheaded by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Oklahoma City Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Drew E. Davis at the helm of legal proceedings.
