Members of the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office joint tactical unit participated in the 14th Annual OKC 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, completing 110 flights of stairs. The event is held annually to commemorate the events of September 11, 2001, and involves law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and other participants.
According to a Facebook post shared by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, participants climbed in gear to honor the memory of 343 FDNY firefighters, 37 Port Authority Police Department officers, 23 NYPD officers, one New York Fire Police officer, eight EMTs/medics, and numerous civilians, including passengers of United Flight 93 and American Flight 11, who lost their lives.
The climb replicates the number of floors of the World Trade Center and is intended to honor first responders and civilians who died during the attacks.
