A shooting in Tacoma yesterday has resulted in one death and left another individual critically wounded. According to KING5, the incident happened around 3 p.m. near the 4000 block of South Warner Street. Tacoma Police Department responded to find two adult males with gunshot injuries. One of the men was declared dead at the scene, while Tacoma Fire Department personnel provided lifesaving care to the second victim before transporting him to the hospital in a critical condition.
Further details are scarce as the police have yet to release substantial information about the events leading up to the shooting. However, this violence occurred within proximity of another recent tragedy. Just two blocks away, a 12-year-old boy was found dead last Friday. While investigators are still to confirm any connection between the two incidents, the proximity in both time and space raises troubling questions. The News Tribune inquired with police spokesperson Shelbie Boyd on whether there was a link between the shootings, but additional details have not been made immediately available. The News Tribune reported that there has been no further clarification on the boy's death.
An active investigation into yesterday's shooting is underway. Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians are treating the event as a homicide. The authorities are reaching out to the public, urging anyone with information that could aid the case to come forward and contact law enforcement. An emphasis on community cooperation was highlighted in a statement provided by KOMO News, which reported the appeal for witnesses or anyone with potentially relevant information to call 911 immediately.
