A double shooting early Friday in South Los Angeles left one man dead and another hospitalized, police said. Officers responded around 2 a.m. to reports of gunfire near 74th and Main streets, as per KTLA. The motive remains under investigation, and authorities have not released details about possible gang ties or the identities of those involved.
Witness reports suggest that an assembly of approximately 30 people was present on the street, possibly for a memorial, when an argument escalated into gunfire, CBS Los Angeles reported. Two men suffered gunshot wounds during the incident, and while one is in stable condition after being transported to the hospital, the other succumbed to his injuries.
An LAPD spokesperson indicated that both victims were adult males, though there was no immediate information on whether they had any connections with the suspect, and a description of the perpetrator remained unavailable at the time, according to KTLA. Police urged anyone with information to contact investigators as the search for the gunman, who remains at large, continues.
