One year has passed since Tropical Storm Helene caused flooding and strong winds across Northeast Tennessee. The storm prompted large-scale emergency and recovery efforts involving government agencies, first responders, volunteers, and community groups working together to ensure public safety and restore normal conditions.
According to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), in the year since the storm, Tennessee has managed over 6 million cubic yards of debris and allocated $42 million in recovery funding. New programs have been introduced to help reduce the financial impact on affected communities.
Recovery efforts are still ongoing, and work continues to support communities affected by the storm.
