
A two-alarm fire broke out yesterday evening at a construction site in East Williamsburg, according to officials. The blaze started just before 7 p.m. at 254 Boerum Street, between Bushwick Place and White Street, sending thick black smoke into the air, as seen in videos shared by bystanders on the Citizen App.
More than 100 firefighters and EMS personnel from 25 units responded to the scene, the FDNY confirmed. According to ABC7NY, the fire spread to part of a neighboring building at 252 Boerum Street. Two people suffered minor injuries and are being evaluated as a precaution.
Firefighters brought the fire under control shortly before 8:30 p.m., preventing further damage. The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined, Brooklyn News12 reported.
