In a recent show of gratitude, Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office gave a public nod to one of their own during a community event. Emergency Management Deputy Director John Stuhlmacher received recognition from the Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce for his dedication to public service. The official ceremony took place at a Grafton High School football game, honoring first responders and military veterans, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office.

Stuhlmacher plays many important roles in law enforcement. He works in emergency management and is part of the Hazardous Materials Team, Rescue Boat Team, and Drone Team. He also serves as Vice President of the Wisconsin Public Safety Drone Association. Beyond his local work, he’s a member of Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster response group, and has helped with over 28 disaster missions, as reported by the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office.

His previous service in the U.S. Army and Wisconsin Army National Guard, including a 10-month combat tour in Iraq with the 32nd Military Police Company, underscores his commitment to his country. For his military service, he's been awarded several commendations, with the Purple Heart among them. The commendation from the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, as shared on their Facebook page, states that "John has dedicated his life to serving the citizens of our community and our nation and embodies the core values of the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office: Honor, Integrity, Duty, and Loyalty."
