The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office has a new deputy in its ranks, as announced by the department in a recent Facebook post. Deputy J. Romero, who was sworn in last week, comes to the team with a background as a U.S. Army veteran where he served from 2017 to 2021.
The swearing-in ceremony was a family affair and included co-workers and a friend who participated via video link—Romero’s wife had the honor of pinning on his badge, marking the official beginning of his tenure in the Jail Division at the sheriff's office, as noted in Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office post.
In addition to his military service—which has no doubt equipped him with a unique set of skills and experiences—Deputy Romero will undergo several months of training to prepare for his new responsibilities within the sheriff’s office, the journey starting now unfolds before a community eager to see how his presence will impact the ever-evolving tapestry that is local law enforcement.
