A tragic incident in Harford County leaves one pedestrian dead after a collision with a vehicle last Friday evening. The Maryland State Police are currently spearheading the investigation into the fatal accident, which claimed the life of Luis Guzman Hernandez, 39, of Fallston, Maryland. Hernandez was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee while attempting to cross US Route 1, north of Maryland Route 152. Maryland State Police reported that emergency medical services personnel from Harford County pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m., and the driver involved remained on the scene following the incident, which is part of the continuing inquiry. At present, no charges are being filed. As part of the investigative process, Route 1 was shut down for an estimated three hours to allow authorities to scrutinize the scene.
Assistance during the hours following the crash was provided by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, among other services.
