
A grim morning unfolded in Turlock as a pedestrian was fatally struck by a Union Pacific train, as per the Turlock Police Department. The incident took place between Golden State Boulevard and Fulkerth Road, prompting temporary closure of multiple railroad crossings in the area. ABC10 provided confirmation of the crossings that were impacted, including Golden State Boulevard southbound at Fulkerth Road.
As the investigation ensued, several roadways were shut down, among them North Front Street's intersections with both Broadway and Canal Drive. The thoroughfares reopened shortly before noon, though the train remained stationary until a new conductor could take the reins. Details concerning the identity or the circumstances of the pedestrian involved have yet to be disclosed. It is not known if the crossing arms were in the lowered position at the time of the incident, as reported by KCRA 3.
