
A school counselor from Cinnabar Elementary School in Petaluma has been taken into custody on allegations of child molestation, as disclosed by the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office in a recent social media posting. John Conant, a 66-year-old resident of Sebastopol, became the subject of an investigation by the Sheriff's Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit following a report received by deputies yesterday, at approximately 10:37 AM, indicating a crime against a child occurred at the school.
With the victim's testimony aiding their case, detectives secured an arrest warrant, leading to Conant's apprehension; he was booked on charges of committing lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, and his bail was firmly set at $250,000—details revealed through Sonoma Sheriff's official Facebook page.
