In a recent statement, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell released information that Jeremy Naltazan, born in October 1989, has been handed down a sentence of 13 years in prison after he pled guilty to charges of Sexual Assault and Attempted Sexual Assault, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. Naltazan will also be subject to lifetime supervised probation following his release. The conviction stems from an incident in December 2024, when Naltazan attacked a 67-year-old woman in her home near Thomas Road and 32nd Street in Phoenix.
The details of the case are disturbing. The woman, upon hearing a knock at her door, looked out to see a man she did not recognize, who then requested to use her phone—she refused the man entry and dialed 911 for help, as detailed by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. While conveying her fears to the dispatcher, Naltazan violently forced his way in, muffled her screams with his hand, pinned her down, and initiated his assault. The swift arrival of the Phoenix Police prevented the attack from escalating further; the officers arrested Naltazan as he attempted to flee by leaping over a fence at the back of the property.
At the sentencing, County Attorney Mitchell highlighted the bravery exhibited by the victim in this case, asserting, "It takes extraordinary courage for a victim to resist, call for help, and ultimately assist police in identifying her attacker." With Naltazan now behind bars, she reassured the public that "this dangerous predator has been stopped, and our community is safer," as noted in the Maricopa County Attorney's press release.
