The city of Phoenix is bracing for a week of high temperatures and clear skies, according to the latest forecast data. With the mercury set to climb above the century mark, locals are gearing up for a typical burst of late-summer heat.
Last night, the National Weather Service reported a low of 84 degrees in Phoenix, with calm winds throughout. As the new week kicks off, residents can expect "sunny, with a high near 103," and light wind movements. The consistent weather pattern is predicted to continue, as Monday night will likely remain clear, with the temperature dipping to a low around 83.
Mostly clear seems to be the recurring theme for the nights ahead, with Tuesday and Wednesday nights also expected to be starlit, and lows hovering in the low 80s and high 70s, respectively. By day, the sun will blaze down on the city, with highs expected to reach 104 on Tuesday and a slight reprieve by Thursday, when a high near 100 degrees is anticipated.
The National Weather Service says winds will stay light this week, shifting from southeast to southwest on Wednesday, with gusts up to 20 mph. Clear skies will continue into the weekend, with highs near 98 on Friday and Saturday and light westerly winds in the afternoons.
Clear skies make this week great for outdoor plans, especially in the evenings when it’s cooler. Sunday will be sunny with a high near 99 degrees. Phoenix residents are reminded to stay hydrated and use sunscreen to stay safe in the heat.
