A 25-year-old Pittsburgh man has been charged with the death of another man whose body was found in the Ohio River. Jose Soto faces criminal homicide, conspiracy, and robbery charges after the deceased, 41-year-old Stephen Williams, had been reported missing since last Sunday and was later discovered dead last Tuesday. His body was found near the riverwalk outside Rivers Casino, as per the WTAE report.
Holding Soto in custody, the Allegheny County Jail will have to answer for the crimes alleged. According to the details mentioned in a criminal complaint, surveillance footage caught Soto and an accomplice attacking and robbing Williams before they threw him into the river. The unidentified second suspect was last seen sporting an orange and pink T-shirt and dark pants. The details emerged from CBS News Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Police and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Williams' body was retrieved from the river following his disappearance, with the former missing person report filed days prior. It remains unclear if previous charges held against Soto are related to this incident. The investigation is ongoing, and details will follow as they emerge from the authorities.
